The lighter

It is part of the collection

The metal lighter Consul with attached plastic box, small brush, small key and paper instructions in German. The lighter is cubic and oblong. The sides are much longer than the front and back walls. The edges are rounded. The side walls have been decorated by frosting ¾ of the surface. The front wall has been matted throughout. The back wall and parts of the side walls (at the joint) were additionally decorated with vertical grooving. At the bottom of the box there is a small screw and the maker's signature (Consul). The box is rectangular in shape and made of grey plastic. Its edges are also rounded. On the front flap there is an inscription (manufacturer's name). Inside, the box is lined with plastic fabric in the same colour. The key attached to the lighter is small, made of silver-coloured metal. The shape of the object is oblong and flattened. At one end there is a semicircular cut-out, the walls of which take the shape of a polygon (enabling the screw to be unscrewed and tightened). The opposite end is significantly wider. In its centre there is a circular notch (eyelet). The small paintbrush belonging to the set consists of a cylindrical metal handle and synthetic bristles in black. The ferrule (the end of the handle, the place where the bristles are inserted) is flattened, so that the bristles are also flattened.

This elegant lighter, as an object received from someone by Marian Rzędowski, but no longer used at all, could be considered to be indirectly connected with the March history of Rzędowski: who quit smoking in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when he began to have his first heart problems as a result of his experiences in March 68.
