And his name is forty and four

Robb-Narbutt, Krystiana (1945-2006)

It is part of the collection

One of a set of five so-called 'small planks' by Krystiana Robb-Narbutt in the collection of the POLIN Museum. Objects such as this one were evidence of the friendship of the author and were a gift to the person for whom they were made. The painting was created for Teodor Bok, as evidenced by the dedication.

The work presents a motif taken from everyday life – a potted plant standing on a window sill, behind which falling rain turns into a rainbow. What the painting has in common with the other works in this set is a simplified composition, modesty of painterly means and a palette of subdued colours (whites, greys, blues).
