Status of digital accessibility

This website partially complies with the appendix of the Digital Accessibility Law of April 4, 2019 on the digital accessibility of public entities' websites and mobile applications due to the incompatibilities listed below.

Inaccessible content

Non-compliance with the Annex

  • some graphics have incorrect alternative text,
  • on several subpages the structure of headings is slightly disturbed,
  • the “Back” button located on some subpages is not available using the keyboard (a workaround would be to use browser mechanisms that allow you to return to the previous page, such as Alt + Left arrow),
  • the keyboard focus indicator is sometimes invisible for an insignificant group of elements (usually graphics within a slide deck),
  • lack of labels for text fields in the filters (Author, Technique, Material / Plastic, Owner); each field of this type allows, after typing all or part of the text, narrowing the selection criteria occurring in the further part of the filters,
  • messages presented to screen reader users about the number of prompts (suggestions) in the search field are in English.

Other information

Architectural accessibility

The surface around the building is made of stone pavement, which can make it difficult for people in wheelchairs or using crutches and walking frames to get to the building. At the main entrance from Zamenhofa Street, there is an audio signal device installed that allows for independent entry to the building and the opening of a wide and accessible entrance. After entering the building, one has to negotiate an 18-metre-long ramp with a slope of 8 degrees. The ramp is not equipped with handrails, there is no landing. Assistance with negotiating the ramp can be provided by the Museum staff. There is a visitor control station in the building, a person in a wheelchair can pass through one of the gates.

In the building, all spaces are accessible to wheelchair users: corridors are of adequate width, elevators lead to all floors. Direction signs and markings on the floor are provided in contrasting colors, they are convex and in Braille.

Stationary induction loops are installed in the building: at the ticket office No. 1, in the teaching room No. 2 on level 1, conference room A on level 1, at the auditorium and the King Matt’s Family Education Area. There are also induction loops to be worn on one’s neck, which are used during guided tours.

In the parking lot from the side of Anielewicza Street, two parking spaces are designated for people with disabilities. To use the parking space, one must drive the car up to the barrier, call security with a push-button, or wait for a security officer to check whether the person is eligible to park in the disabled parking space.

You can enter the building and all its rooms with an assistance dog and a guide dog.
