Architectural design

Altar design for the Scheinbach Synagogue in Przemyśl, located at Dobromilska Street (today’s Słowackiego). Construction works began ca. 1910 on the initiative of Mojżesz Scheinbach, a prominent local Jewish activist and the building’s main funder. The synagogue boasted a modern structure, a functional interior, and richly decorated exterior elevations in the Eclectic-Moorish Revival style. During World War II, the Germans used the synagogue as stables and warehouses, thanks to which the building itself survived. Unfortunately, in the 1960s, it underwent renovation works in which the original interior was destroyed. Until recently, the former synagogue building housed the Municipal Public Library.
