Art Noveau tenement house of Oszer Kon (43 Piotrkowska Street)

Photographic documentation of the site

In the 1850s, a small wooden building stood on the property at 43 Piotrkowska Street. It was not until the 1870s, that a two-storey front tenement house was built there. At approximately the year 1900 it was bought out by one of Łódź's richest factory owners, Oszer (Oskar) Kon. In 1901, the building received a new façade and two outbuildings. Gustaw Landau-Gutenteger was the author of the building's reconstruction design. It was the first Art Nouveau-style building in Łódź.
