The badge of the youth section of the left-wing Zionist organisation Hashomer Hatzair (The Young Guard). It was the most popular and numerous youth section in the Zionist movement, combining communism with Zionism (it cooperated with the Communist Party of Poland, among others). The first units of this organisation were formed in Galicia after 1914, and in 1928 it had 16,500 members. The overarching aim of the organisation was to raise physically fit young Jews ready to establish and develop a new Jewish state in Palestine.
