Ballada (Ballad) – unpublished version (II)

Siemaszko, Olga (1911-2000)

A depiction of a woman and children who lost their lives during the Second World War, not used in the book "Ręka umarłej” (Hand of a Deceased) – like another work in the POLIN Museum collection, with accession number MPOLIN-M1623 (see object note for contextual information).

This drawing differs from the version published in the volume in several minor details, including the slightly different drawing of the child's fingers lying on the woman's neck and her fingers on the child's body; the line of the child's toes on the lower right is not closed; in this version, only the end of one line is visible at the child's buttocks in the middle (whereas in the book the fork of the buttocks is marked at the top).
