The baton

It is part of the collection

The instrument's rim is made of plywood, painted green on the outside. The diaphragm is attached to the rim with metal screws and an additional narrow rim made of metal, which keeps it taut. Traces of sticking are visible in some places. The manner in which it was made suggests that the drum was constructed by a person who had no drum knowledge. The piece of parchment with the Torah written on it is worn, and the writing is illegible in many places. Only the elements in the upper and lower parts of the diaphragm are legible (the text in the middle is frayed).
