Blind man's

Chmielewska, Iwona (1960- )

The drawing depicts King Maciuś the First with his crown pulled down over his eyes, in the midst of other children, as if playing a game of fidgeting (there are six of them and they are depicted as about three times smaller; grey). The illustration shows the theme of King Maciuś's deepening problems with governing and was used on the cover of a picture book by Iwona Chmielewska with works from the project - "Jak ciężko być królem" [How hard It Is to Be a King].

In her work, Iwona Chmielewska mostly uses old paper - she cuts out elements of destroyed books, uses recycled folders, finds yellowed paper risks. This can be seen in this work.
