Photographic documentation of the site

At 17 and 19 Symowycza Street (ukr. Симовича ул.) in Chernivtsi the following have been preserved: a corner tenement house (50 Chmielnicki Street, ukr. вулиця Богдана Хмельницького, 50) and a former synagogue, belonging to Rabbi Menachem Nachum Freidman (1869-1936), a Hasidic spiritual leader from Bojan in Bukovina, known as the Bojaner Rebbe, the great-grandson of Israel Friedman, the famous Tzaddik of Sadogóra (Różyn-Sadogóra dynasty). They were erected probably between the 19th and 20th centuries. The tenement house is currently used for residential purposes and the synagogue houses the conservation office.
