Briefcase

part of the collection

Andrzej Kramsztyk got back to practicing law after the end of the war. For some time he was also working as a legal advisor. In March 1968, once the anti-Semitic campaign took off in Poland (https://sztetl.org.pl/pl/slownik/marzec-1968-w-polsce), his working relations as an advisor were cancelled. He continued his work as an independent lawyer for some time longer. However, also in that field, his possibilities were limited by certain formalities. According to those closest to Andrzej, the events of March 1968 left a significant mark, not only on his professional life, but also on his emotions.

Briefcase of brown lather. Rectangular with a handle (also made of leather) attached to the upper part of the briefcase by metal rivets, leather flap buttoned with two metal latches. The surface of the leather carved in a pattern resembling crocodile skin. Owner’s monogram made of metal pinned in the flap’s right corner. Canvased compartment inside of the briefcase.
