Canteen voucher

Voucher to the camp canteen of Natalia (Nacha) Blüth née Włodawer (1903-1961), a prisoner of the Altenburg camp from 23 September 1944, imprisoned as a Polish woman, Kazimiera Chojnacka. She was taken there after more than a month in Ravensbrück prison, where she was transported from Warsaw on 15 August 1944 (see the history of her imprisonment in Germany: https://collections.arolsen-archives.org/de/search/person/3772977?s=chojnacka%20kazimiera&t=2464061&p=0, accessed 26.12.2023).

Altenburg was a satellite camp of the Konzentrationslager Buchenwald: prisoners were given Buchenwald Concentration Camp registration numbers, hence the voucher for their canteen was probably issued by Buchenwald.

Blüth had two such vouchers with her in the Czech Republic, where she was rescued after a death march (when she fell and was not killed).

Imprints:

- at upper left corner: “SS-Standort-Kantine | Buchenwald” (last word in smaller, SS - lightning bolt-shaped letters),

- diagonally across, towards upper right corner: “Außenkommando”,

- near bottom right corner: “WERTMARKE | RM. 1.- ”,

- bottom left: “69594 *”.

Two purple stamps.
