Kitz, Marcin (1891-1943)

Marcin Kitz (1891–1943) – Polish painter and graphic artist of Jewish descent. He began his studies in Lviv under Stanisław Rejchan and Stanisław Batowski. Later, in the years 1919–1920, he enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where he was tutored by Ignacy Pieńkowski. He also studied in Berlin, Munich, and Vienna. He travelled around Europe, visiting France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. In 1940, he took part in an exhibition organised in Moscow, Kharkiv, and Kyiv. He was murdered during the German occupation of Lviv. He painted landscapes, genre scenes, still lifes, and portraits.
