Dark field condenser

It is part of the collection:

Among the items taken by Marceli Najder from the former German pharmacy in Bolesławiec, where he worked as manager after the war, we can also find a mysterious black wooden box with white lettering reading “Dunkelfeldeinrichtung zur Mikroskopieausrüstung”. It contains a dark field condenser. It is an attachment that, when mounted on a microscope, makes it possible to observe a bright image of the specimen against a black background. Dark field is used when examining unstained samples, which is especially helpful in the observation of living objects such as blood cells, but also bacteria or yeast.
