The design of theatre scenography – the interior: a kitchen with a cagoule

Pacanowski, Bolesław (1901-1977)

In this scenography design by Bolesław (Beniamin) Pacanowski, the kitchen interior is more modest than in his other designs from the collection (see MPOLIN-M1151 and MPOLIN-M1152).

The room resembles a simple country kitchen with a wooden, yellowish floor, walls of a pinkish hue and a light blue ceiling. There are only a few pieces of equipment in the interior: a table covered with a white tablecloth, two chairs and wooden benches, and a wooden chest; an oil lamp hangs on the wall. In the corner you can see a white tiled kitchen, on which two pots stand; next to the kitchen there is a low cupboard with a bucket and a bowl. The only more ornamental piece of furniture is a shelf with a decorative top, on which white plates are placed, and on hooks below hang a quart with one ear and a white towel. See also another version of this stage design, MPOLIN-M1154.
