The design of theatre scenography – the interior of a tailor's workshop

Pacanowski, Bolesław (1901-1977)

Here is a different version of the interior of a tailor's workshop, known from a similar project MPOLIN-M1148. In the foreground we can see three sewing machines, set in wooden tops with metal legs. Large sewing shears and pieces of coloured fabric lie on the top of the table standing in the centre. On the shelves of the rack next to it rest bales of multi-coloured fabrics. In the depth of the workshop, on a raised platform, stand sewing dummies: two on the left (one of them dressed), one on the right. The room is lit by two oil lamps in large glass shades. The whole room is kept in brown and yellow, warm colours, with accents of green, blue and white. The contours of the walls, furniture, sewing machines, mannequins and other objects are highlighted with a free line in black ink. As in other projects, the scene is framed in a linear black frame.
