The design of theatre scenography – a rural landscape

Pacanowski, Bolesław (1901-1977)

The scenographic landscape by Bolesław Pacanowski takes us into the more idyllic surroundings of the town. We see, framed by a box-like stage with a purple curtain, a park corner with an alley, a bench and a gas lantern, with a windmill in the background. We don't know who was supposed to sit on the park bench, but behind it there is a view of a line of tall trees and a windmill with big vanes obscured by them. These are times closer to the present, with electric wires running on wooden poles in the background.
