Document regarding the lawsuit brought against Jews by the Castle Court in connection with illegal wine trade

A handwritten document on ribbed paper (handmade; has a watermark) issued on 27 April 1733 in Tarnów. Written in Polish with interjected words in Latin, it has the nature of a report from a court hearing before the Castle Court in Tarnów (based in the manor house in Gumniska). It concerns a complaint filed by Tarnów wine traders against Jews, citizens of Tarnów (Jakub Lewkowic, Icek Mendelowic, Herszl Lisiowic), who, contrary to applicable customs, traded and sold wine in taverns. Jacek Pietrzyniec, a counselor and merchant from Tarnów, requests on behalf of other merchants that Jews be prohibited from selling wine, except kosher wine, which Jews can sell for their own use. The court imposes a fine on two defendants and upholds the ban on the Jewish wine trade in Tarnów. Under the document is the handwritten signature of Antoni Choynowski, an economist, and a red wax seal with the "Ślepowron" coat of arms. Document on two sheets (three pages are written).
