Documents relating to the Olkusz synagogue

The ninety-page set of documents produced as a result of collecting material relating to the Olkusz synagogue. The documents include drawings from the building inventory prepared by Henryk Straszak, a site plan (1:250), technical descriptions, and an approximate cost estimate for adapting the building for production purposes (sic!). Additionally, the files contain plans, illustrative drawings, notes, written accounts concerning the synagogue, and a photograph from the post-World War II period. The mention of the synagogue adjacent to the city wall in the northern part of the town dates back to 1584. Interestingly, one of the fortified towers was used for its construction. In the 19th century, after the demolition of the city fortifications, the synagogue was expanded towards the west, receiving a larger main entrance. During World War II, it was devastated and subsequently fell into ruins. It was demolished in the 1950s, and the remaining site remains empty to this day .
