Dream

Hochman, Henryk (1881-1943)

The sculpture Dream is a portrait study by Henryk Hochman, an artist of Jewish origin. The bust of a woman with regular facial features was carved from marble. Her head is tilted towards her left shoulder. The woman's eyes are closed, and a soft smile gives her face a gentle expression. Long, thick, wavy hair held by the woman's right hand flows down her back and covers her shoulders. Together with the lower part of the sculpture, they form a frame for her face, neck, décolleté and hand. This effect is enhanced by the contrasting combination of the smooth surface of the face with the textured surface of the lush hair and the bottom of the sculpture. Right there, in the right part of the base of the sculpture is the signature: "H Hochman".
