One of a set of five so-called 'small planks' in the collection of the POLIN Museum that Krystiana Robb-Narbutt gave to her friend Teodor Bok.

Objects such as this were evidence of the closeness and friendship of the author and were a gift to the person for whom they were made. The fact that the work was created for Teodor Bok is evidenced by the inscription on the face of the composition.

As in all the objects in this set – this work is characterised by the modesty of the painterly means used, a palette of delicate, subdued colours (whites, greys, greens, blues) and the simplicity of the composition highlighting a single motif.
