A biblical scene in which Moses, leader of the Israelites, leads the enslaved Jewish people out of Egypt. This event, also known as the Exodus, is described in the Scriptures in Exodus and Numbers, and to a lesser extent also in Leviticus and Deuteronomy.

Enslaved by the Egyptians, the people of Israel were led towards the promised land by Moses, an Israelite found as a child in a wooden basket on the banks of a river and raised by Pharaoh's daughter. God entrusted the task of leading the Israelites out of Egypt to Moses through an angel at the burning bush. Pharaoh, although initially reluctant to free the Israelites, relented after God sent ten plagues on Egypt. JO
