Gitla Weg's passport

The passport was issued on 31 July 1917 by the Austro-Hungarian authorities in Tarnów in the name of Gitla Weg. The holder of the document was the wife of a merchant, residing in Ryglice (near Tarnów). The document is in the form of a small book, in German and Polish, with 16 numbered pages, printed at the State Printing House in Vienna. It was issued during the reign of Charles I (1916–1918) by the Tarnów Regional Board (Bezirkshauptmannschaft). On the front cover in a circular medallion is the coat of arms of Austria-Hungary. Inside, two black and white photographs on pages 5 and 13 depicting a middle-aged woman. There are seals stamped inside, including: k. & k. Tarnów Regional Board, Imperial German Consulate for Galicia and Bukovina in Lviv, Imperial General Consulate, police in Frankfurt am Main, police office in Bad-Nauheim. Gitla Weg was illiterate, as evidenced by three "x" marks in place of her handwritten signature (moreover, she was not proficient with a pen).
