Hanukkah lamp

Pinkus A.

A lamp with a three-legged base, with side edges rolled up, has eight dished receptacles for oil. The base of the back plate is formed by an arch with the text of a blessing inscribed on it, reaching the receptacles placed at the very end. The upper part of the back plate imitates the contour of a closed crown which encloses a lion turned to the left, leaning its hind legs against the arch, and the front legs against the crown; its tail is s-shaped, reaching the central, upper part of the crown. At the top there is a place for the shammash, i.e. an auxiliary candle.

Donated by Witold Males-Boniecki.
