Hanukkah lamp

Incomplete Hanukkah lamp consisting of an elongated base on four ornamental feet and a decorative backplate. The eight original oil holders are missing. The base has a profiled edge and an undulating front. It is attached to the backplate with two screws. The backplate has the shape of a quadrangle with rounded upper corners and is richly decorated with embossing. In the centre, there is an image of a seven-armed candlestick with antithetical stylised lions on the sides, resting their front paws on palm trees. At the top, there is a symmetrical vine with grape bunches. The entire composition is topped by a crown. An oil jug with a round foot, rotund body, and an S-shaped handle is hooked to the right edge of the backplate. An opening for attaching an additional lamp (shammash, missing) is visible near the left edge. On the back wall of the backplate, near the bottom edge, in the centre, there is a hallmark of M. Jarra. Another hallmark: Kamiński – is visible under the base, in the centre. It is overlaid with two more hallmarks of M. Jarra.

The item forms part of the prewar collection of the National Museum of Przemyśl.
