Henryk Rozental's military cap

The military cap of Richard Henry Rozental from the time of his service in the Royal Air Force was made of wool in grey-blue colour. The shape of the cap's bottom is round, along the edge (at the base) there is a wide black tape. The cap has a semicircular, stiffened peak. On the front, above the peak, there is an emblem embroidered in gold thread with a metal braid. In the central part of the emblem, there is a representation of a bird (eagle) with outstretched wings. Its head is turned to the left (depicted in profile) and its beak is open. The tongue protruding from the open beak is marked with a red thread. The bird is standing on a semicircular shield (rynograph). To the left and right of the bird is placed an additional pair of wings (Hussar wings). These wings are clearly larger than the bird and fold inwards at ¾ of their height, thus creating a frame for the bird (surrounding it). A decorative strip of black lacquered leather is placed over the visor, which is attached to its sides with small buttons. Inside the cap there is a sweatband made of brown leather and a silk lining. On the inner part of the bottom (in the middle) there is a trace of a square sticker in the form of glue residue. The caps of PSP aviators (according to an order issued by the command in 1940) were marked above the peak with an emblem depicting the Polish emblem (white-tailed eagle) embroidered with gold or silver thread. The eagle was to rest on a rynograph (a semicircular breastplate commonly worn by the Polish nobility; often decorated with religious symbols). Additionally, there were hussar wings on both sides .
