Illustration for Chapter IV of Korczak's novel, titled (the chapters have summary titles) "Duże troski małych dzieci. – Wacek już nie mówi „szczeniaku”. – Święte łzy i Towarzystwo Opieki nad Samotnymi'' (Great concerns of young children. – Wacek no longer says 'you brat'. –Holy tears and the Society for the Care of the Lonely).

Multicoloured depiction of a sleeping boy who is lying on his side; his head is on a dotted pillow. Description of the composition by paying attention to the techniques the artist employed in this collage. The boy is placed in the centre of the card, against a blue background (paint, spotting) with a white crescent moon. Half of the boy's body shows a pink and purple quilt (pasted element; on its edge near the legs there are schematically drawn buttons and open edges of the pillowcase), with a pattern, drawn, of ships, flags and anchors. Two black tears flow from the boy's left eye. One tear is at the top right next to the eye, the other is below (elements drawn in pencil), while seven more tears, much larger and of different colours, are visible below the whole silhouette, with inscriptions on two of them: Brother, Mother.

The illustration in the book is printed in yellow and black. In the illustration in the book, on the top right and on the top left, the background is modified – the clouds are drawn.
