Bolesław Pacanowski – between Łódź and America

From 1952, Bolesław Pacanowski worked at the Julian Tuwim Youth House of Culture in Łódź at 4a Moniuszki Street. In the years 1953-1958, he headed the Artistic Education Department. As he wrote to J. Sandel, "due to my illness" – he was only in charge of the department of Visual Arts and the Sculpture Studio (Bolesław Pacanowski's letter to Józef Sandel of 15 June 1961, Archive of the Jewish Historical Institute).

In the Pacanowskis' archive, held at the POLIN Museum, there are two documents relating to their work at the Youth House of Culture. One is this insurance card issued on 22 January 1960, the other is a booklet for a badge of honour from the Julian Tuwim Youth Palace in Łódź (see MPOLIN-A18.1.7).
