Invoice issued by Szancer and Silberpfennig Steam Mills in Tarnów

The invoice issued in Tarnów on 1 December 1922 to K. Knieser (?) from Nowy Sącz by Szancer and Silberpfennig Steam Mills in Tarnów. The document is a printed form with the following fields: information about the transfer of goods to the purchaser with an indication of the decision, date, number of goods, details of the purchaser, address and amount to be paid. The table specifies the loading date, wagon number, number of bags, weight, type of goods, number, price per 100 kg as well as the amount. The sequential number of the invoice was marked, in this case 13. On the back there are 19 stamps of stamp duty worth 500 marks each, 1 stamp worth 200 marks, 1 worth 50 marks and 2 worth 20 marks each. The total amount was 9,790 marks. The Szancer Steam Mill was established in 1859. The first owner was Henryk Szancer, who became famous not only as a talented entrepreneur, but also as a philanthropist and social activist. He was a member of the Tarnów city council. A fact that confirms his merits in the field of charity and local life is that he was awarded a diploma of honorary citizen of Tarnów and was decorated by Franz Joseph I with an order bearing his name. Henryk Szancer was buried at the Jewish Cemetery in Tarnów. The mill was taken over by the Germans during the occupation and was nationalised after the war. Currently, after two fires in 2015, the building is deteriorating.
