Charyton, Józef (1909-1975)

Painting by Józef Charyton titled "Sklep żelaza i pokostu" ("Iron and Mordant Shop"), oil on fibreboard. It depicts three men: two engaged in conversation standing opposite each other in an open doorway and an elderly man with a gray beard sitting behind the counter in a cap. Shelves and a slanted ladder can be seen behind him. Above the entrance to the shop, there is a rectangular sign with the inscription: "Sklep żelaza i pokostu A. Gitel" and diagonally: "Farb." A section of a red-tiled roof is visible at the top. A wooden barrel stands at the bottom. In the lower right corner, the date "1971" is included.
