Jew

Majcher, Alojzy (1907-1943)

The lithograph Jew made by Alojzy Majcher, an artist from Tarnów, shows a ¾ view of the bust of a man, which is the only element of the composition and occupies its central part. The man is facing the left edge of the image field. He has closed eyes, a long beard, and on his head is a Tallit (prayer shawl) and a tefillin – a leather box containing Torah fragments written on parchment, which, according to Jewish tradition, men put on during morning prayer. No signature.
