Painting on a silk support depicting a Jew with a boy at a desk. Its author was most likely Wilhelm Wachtel, a Jewish painter and graphic artist based in Lviv, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków under Leopold Loeffler and Leon Wyczółkowski and of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under N. Gysis. The authorship has been determined after discovering a reproduction of a postcard with the same image dating from the early 20th century. This indicates that the painting is one of the artist’s early pieces. It was likely Wachtel’s original work.

The painting was included in the collection of the National Museum of Przemyśl in the interwar period or earlier.
