Jew in a Skullcap

Majcher, Alojzy (1907-1943)

The drypoint Jew in a Skullcap by Alojzy Majcher, an artist from Tarnów, shows an image of a man's head in profile to the right. His face is turned towards the right edge of the image field. The man with short stubble is wearing a round, flat, brimless cap, which suggests that he may have been a Jew from the areas under Russian partition. In the frame, right next to the lower left corner of the composition, is the author's inscription: "drypoint". In the lower right corner, at the same height, there is a signature: "AMajcher".
