Józek, do you have a coffee grinder?

Michalski, Jacek (1964- )

Board from the story about Helena Syrkusowa née Eliasberg (1900–1982), one of the most important Warsaw architects, both in the pre-war period and after 1945. The main plot of the comic strip is Pablo Picasso’s arrival in Warsaw in 1948. The artist then visited a workers’ housing estate in Koło, one of the flagship urban-planning projects of the time, an outstanding achievement of post-war Polish architecture. On the wall of one of the apartments, he drew the Mermaid of Warsaw.
