Jurman's tenement house (Warsaw)

Photographic documentation of the site

The tenement building at 12 Ząbkowska Street was erected around the year 1900. In 1872 the property belonged to Zysia Jurman, and in 1930 M. Hirszbein was its owner. In 2001 the building underwent a thorough renovation, during which its original appearance was to be reconstructed, even though there are no plans or photographs of it left today. The tenement house is considered “Jewish” – a trace of a mezuzah at the door into the staircase (at the junction of the outbuildings) supposedly serving as proof of that.
