K. Poznański’s good warehouse in Łódź

Photographic documentation of the site

The house at 51 Piotrkowska Street, formerly owned by Franciszek Hiller, was bought by Izrael Kalmanowicz Poznański at turn of the 1880s and 1890s. The design for the reconstruction of the front building was drawn up in 1891 by the architect Juliusz Jung, but the plans are signed by the urban architect Hilary Majewski. In 1895, a magnificent townhouse was built with its style reminiscent of the French early Baroque, the so-called Louis XIII style. The building has a red brick façade decorated with numerous ornaments.
