Landscape of Kazimierz

Behrman, Adolf (1876-1942/1943)

The painting from around 1939 (watercolour, pastel, tempera, cardboard, 44 x 57.5 cm) presents a panorama of Kazimierz Dolny dominated by blocks of two churches. In the centre, in the far background, a body of a parish church is exposed, with a high brick-coloured roof. The northern side of the church is presented, with a visible chancel and side chapel. Closer to the left, at the foot of a small hill, there is St Anne's Church with a semicircular chancel seen from its north-eastern side. Behind the hill, there is a small hill with ruins of a castle. Low-rise urban development is presented on the left. The houses are shown schematically, those in the foreground are white. The whole picture is dominated by a sky in various tones of blue, white and orange.
