“On the last day, my father had just one wish”

Dzierżawska, Zosia (1983- )

The eighth page original art. Panels 4 and 9 glued onto it (attached versions cover previous ones recognised as fails by the artist). We see Tzadik Mendel Kalisz and Ita, who brought him a potted plant. A bee flies in through an open window (reference to the bee swarm from the dream about the end of Judaism). In the printed version in the (empty at this stage) caption of the panel with the bee, we can read Mendel’s curses cast upon his children in case of their apostasy (and indeed after his death they all reject the faith). The last panel corresponds to the emblematic depictions of the death bed.
