Letter to Anna Zimmermann (IV)

"Dear Andzia! Do not be surprised that I have not written to you. I am sorry to bother you, and I have nothing good to write about. I had my right eye removed on 22 December [1946 - R.P.]. | Today I received the results of the analysis - it is a tumour called "melanoma", in Latin.

Andziuń! Dear! Don't worry about me. It's silly. I spit on it. My other eye is Zosia, an extremely successful girl. Her health has improved. We are together in Żoliborz. I am afraid (unread.) that her illness will not return" (The letter from Natalia Zajczyk to Anna Zimmermann of 24 February 1947). | Immediately after the liberation Zosia Zajczyk's health was not good, in 1945 she was treated in a sanatorium for tuberculosis children in Otwock. In her health card it was written: "General condition average. During the first stay in the sanatorium she discharged herself completely healthy. After 2 months she returned with changes in her right lung". (Zajczyk Zofia 303/IX/86/Z/778-819). | Renata Piątkowska
