Letter to Ewa Kuryluk

part of the collection

In one of his letters, Teodor Bok sent Ewa Kuryluk six small, black-and-white photos of his intricately complex, monumental wooden sculptures. He affixed the usual mocking-bitter and self-critical comment to them: "My darling! I am sending you a few photos of my 'zieźby' as Ł. [ukasz] Korolkiewicz (a painter) says. […] Currently, primitive sculpture and prints are enjoying unprecedented triumphs. And I follow the spirit of the times, which is quite easy to me as good old torturers with higher education have always been my ideal. By the way, these are sculptures from a year or a year and a half ago, I have no new photos, sculptures either. […] These sculptures already fill me with great disgust" (Letter from Teodor Bok to Ewa Kuryluk, undated).
