Letter to Felicja Blumental

part of the collection

On 26 January 1940, Felicja wrote to her husband: “In these days I expect a letter from your parents again, or rather a card, because I sent them a double card [...]. If I get an answer, I will send it to you by regular letter.” | This card of 30 January 1940, written on a Red Cross form, is probably one of the letters awaited by Felicja. Written in Russian by Bronia Mizne, Markus’ mother living in Warsaw at 18 Bracka Street, apartment 43. The Mizne family originated from Kiev, they settled in Warsaw after World War I, thus Russian remained their everyday language. Bronia (1876–1943) and her husband Bernard (1876–1942) perished in the Shoah. Three sons survived the war: Marek (1908–1994), George (Żorżyk) (1910–1990) and Michał (Misza, Moses) (1913–1995). | Renata Piątkowska
