Letter to Halina Kraus

It is part of the collection

The letter from Theophilus Glocer to his daughter on 1 card. From the content of the letter (original spelling): "And the most important thing is that the children in America are making efforts to take us all there, and since, as Wladek wrote, he already has US visas for you we will all be together, and this is, after all, the peak of happiness and our dreams throughout our separation! [...] Wladek writes that we should wait in Sweden until we get visas to continue our journey, and he wants to come to Sweden to pick us up". | Sweden was a stop for most of the Glocer family before they left for the USA. Marta Glocer (great-grandmother) died naturally a short while before the end of the war, Teofil (at the age of almost 80) left together with his daughters (Janka and Ewa) and their children - Wanda (Ewa's daughter) and Andrzej (Janka's son). Sweden was a popular stop for post-war refugees (especially Jews). Their eldest son Władysław was already in the USA, so he brought the whole family to New York, where they lived the rest of their lives. | MW
