Letter to Janina Puncuch

part of the collection

Letter from Ewa Lawendel to her sister on 3 pages. From the body of the letter (original spelling): “You probably knew that thanks to the Franek’s family we managed to survive those terrible times. It wasn’t a life but a sad vegetation, one day we’ll tell you the whole story in a more extensive way. It’s still difficult today, after all, as the war continues and we’re in the midst of its greatest intensity. For the time being, I’m completely alone and cut off from my loved ones, as due to the fact that I live in the Warsaw’s Praga, I have found myself in the liberated part of the country earlier. My parents, Wandulka and Franek’s family are on the other side of the Vistula, in Konstancin. I haven’t heard from them since August 1 and I miss them all terribly, especially sweet little Wandeczka.”
