Letter to Marcus Blumental

part of the collection

This postcard was sent on 19 March 1903 from Warsaw to Markus Blumental (his name was still written Blumenthal at that time), who was then staying in France in Oyonnax, a town in the Ain department of Auvergne, southwestern France, in the Jura Mountains, near the Franco-Swiss border. | This is a letter from “Your Helena” - probably a fiancée (or wife), who wrote: “Your elder brother has just called on us and he gave me 30 rubles, for which I [...] cordially thank you Markus, as I was penniless.” | The choice of the postcard with a photo of a girl in a kerchief, captioned A MIRACLE IS SAD, was not accidental, because the question was: ”Do you find the card nice?” | Renata Piątkowska
