Letter from Marek Szwarc to Gina Szwarc

In his spare time, Marek Szwarc drew portraits of his colleagues, which were even hung up in the shared room. In one of his letters, we read (original spelling): "I bring a whole heap of drawings with me. It's the only thing I do here in my off-duty hours - and I have a lot of those hours starting from 6 in the evening until 10 or more. So I can draw kilometres of paper and write out gallons of ink [...]. Drawing gives me a lot. Not to mention the fact that it fills a void'. (original spelling). From drawings made in 1941 and 1942, he put together an album, which is now in the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research collection in New York.
