Letter to Mr and Mrs Blumental

part of the collection

A postcard from Felicja Blumental to her parents staying then in Luxembourg, written in Nice on 5 May 1938. It is a characteristic postcard with a photo of Felicja taken on the seaside Promenade des Anglais [English Walkway] in Nice (cf. MHŻP-B1495). The picture is blurry. It was most likely Felicja herself who destroyed it, perhaps she did not like her image in the shot. | Among the many pieces of news, the most important is the one about renting an apartment: “We will live, with God’s help, in a new house that is not yet finished, i.e. not all apartments are. We have rented 2 rooms on the first floor, a kitchen smaller than our bath room with a bidet and toilet and a small corridor with a penderie, i.e. a wardrobe. Not only is the apartment is located in the centre, but it is just like in Warsaw on Bracka Street. You can enter from two streets: rue de France, actually it is called rue Privée Meyerbeer 15ter. We are 5 minutes from the Promenade des Anglais, famous worldwide”. | Renata Piątkowska
