Letter to Mr and Mrs Blumental

part of the collection

A postcard from Felicja Blumental to her parents staying then in Luxembourg, written in Nice on 13 May 1938. It is a similar postcard, with a photo of Felicja, in a different shot (different from card MPOLIN-A30.2.3), taken on the seaside Promenade des Anglais [English Walkway]. | This time, Felicja discusses the details of her father’s complicated journey (whom she calls Tatulek) from Luxembourg to Nice and asks for things necessary in the new hosehold, including a down duvet, a pillow, a few pieces of white flannel and a packet of candles, “because they’re nasty here. They have holes. I hate them because they are church candles.” The last note is touching: “Let Mummy make pasta for Tatulek, because Felutek does not like it when it’s not homemade.” | Renata Piątkowska
