Letter to Mrs Czerniakowa

It is one of the first letters that Natalia Zajczyk sent to family members living in Palestine. The note at the top says that she wrote it to her aunt Czerniakowa (she also mentioned her in a letter to Anna Zimmermann dated 2 and 8 June 1936, see MPOLIN-A31.2.1). Natalia describes the wartime fate of her husband Szymon Zajczyk (she still does not believe that he is dead) and her whole family. "I lost my whole family except for Jóźek" [brother - R.P.]. She still has no contact with her sister Anna Zimmermann who lives in Palestine, so she asks: "If you are in contact with my family, please let my sister, brother-in-law and sweet Ispo know that out of the whole family I am left with Zosia and Józiek with his wife. Not a word about Bronka [sister - R.P.] for 6 years. I am looking for her. I live in Żoliborz. I have a room with my friend Rydygierowa. (...) I went back to school, but I don't know if I will be able to work. (The letter from Natalia Zajczyk to Mrs. Czerniakowa from 23 September 1945). | Renata Piątkowska
