Letter to Paulina Wlodawer

A letter from the Warsaw ghetto to Asino, to Paulina Włodawer from Regina Justman with annotations from her parents - Aron (in German) and Miriam Justman. Regina Justman asks no to send candies and cookies, because they are unnecessary and the customs duty is high. She writes about her spiritual state: ‘[...] I will confess you the truth I stopped being interested in the final result of the current affairs [i.e. of the war]. It will surely seem very strange to you and maybe even inconceivable, but one can achieve such a level of total numbness to everything – apart of hunger and cold. From September 1939 I did not read a newspapers or a single Polish book, and I am under the impression that if I survive this war, I will never read again. [...] The only relief for me is that you are not here. I want you to remember it well - whatever happens. "
