Letter to Samuel Szczekacz (III)

part of the collection

"26 X 1947

Dear Sir,

I was very pleased to hear from you. I am sending (as I already have the address now) 4 reproductions of my drawings.

At the beginning of this year, I had an exhibition in Łódź entitled "To the Memory of My Friends the Jews", where I used my wartime drawings juxtaposed with photographs. This created a series that would be suitable for an album, as a graphic portfolio. After the exhibition, I gave these graphics to a Hashomer to find your address and send these drawings to Palestine. I would like you to make an exhibition of these drawings there, and then you can do whatever you want with them.

Since there was no address, and I was very much worried by the reaction to this exhibition, and on top of that, my divorce proceedings were getting involved (because Kobro showed during the war who she really was) – so I neglected to see to it. I have now reminded him of this and will see to it.

I would ask for any reproductions, photographs, etc.

Wegner and I teach at the School of Fine Arts (like an Academy, but related to applied arts). I am the head of architecture. Wegner teaches painting and is dean of the faculty. Hochlinger – ceramics.

And besides – there's hardly anyone from Łódź – everyone's killed.

Very warm greetings and thank you for your memory.

I look forward to your letters
